Xander Schauffele On 2nd Place

If you don't know Xander's story, it's one of the more compelling ones in all of sports right now. For the past 5ish years, he has been known as the best golfer on tour not to win a major. Nobody has finished inside the top 10 more often without winning. He's been 2nd best more times than a normal man can tolerate.
To come that close so often must have taken an insane toll on his mental health. To hear the tabloids claim you "don't have the clutch gene." would break any of us. But Xander, from an early age, adopted the process listed above, and like all great athletes, he believed his time was coming.
And come it has. This year Xander has shaken the demons and won not just 1 major, but this past Sunday he clinched his second, winning the British Open.
The interview above shows the mindset he had a few months ago after another runner-up finish. He stuck to his process, stayed committed to his routine, stayed committed to his execution, and stayed committed to accepting whatever result may come.
This is the definition of mental toughness. Life won't always turn out the way you want it. Winning is the rarest commodity in sports - sometimes the ball breaks your way, sometimes it doesn't. "It is what it is."
The lesson we can all take away from Xander this year is to be patient, focus on your process & truly believe to your core that your time is coming.
We spend so much time in the future and the past that we often forget to execute in the present. Winning isn't done tomorrow, it's done today in the seconds and hours you choose to spend working or complaining.
Attack the day, attack the week, make the most of the moments right in front of you and trust that this work will result in the outcomes you are chasing. Be Inevitable!
